The Enosi is an unusual blend of Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewurztraminer. It's aptly named after the greek word enosi, which means "put together". And from what I gather from their website, the estate is still run by a baron.
Medium lemon color. Youthful nose with a pronounced intensity of elderberry, wet sand, buttermilk and grassy aromas. Dry palate, medium(+) acidity. High alcohol and medium(+) body. Pronounced intensity of grilled pork chop, licorice, bitter grapefruit and tarragon. Long length with s spicy and smoky finish.
Wow. This is the first time I tasted pork chop in a glass. I don't think I have ever tasted a blend of these three grapes and I don't think I have ever such an unusual aroma. Overall I think that Sauvignon Blanc's grassiness dominates the wine, but Riesling and Gewurztraminer lift it up to a higher sphere of the unexpected. If only the alcohol level would be less noticable. But such is the price of super-ripe grapes.
