This cuvée is made from the fruit of vines which are more than 30 years old. Low yields and concentrated fruit are the result. Grapes are picked selectively at the end of the harvest.
Medium golden color extending gradually to a thin watery rim. Developed nose with a medium intensity of dried fruit, honey, apricot and orange blossoms; hints of botrytis. Dry, medium(+) acidity, medium alcohohl and body. Medium, slightly muted intensity ripe apricot fruit with spices; bitter grapefruit, minerality and wood. Long length with a peppery finish.
Very good. The aromas are simply beautiful, like the smell of a meadow in full bloom, so natural and elegant. Not a happy/smiley/fruity wine - you dip your nose into a cloud of pedigree. The palate is shut down at first, but nevertheless there are sparkles of class shining through while the wine lingers on your tongue. However, after the wine had spent about 15-20 minutes in the glass, it opened up and revealed wonderfully deep honey flavors with pronounced herbal qualities. I highly recommend decanting this wine for at least a half hour before drinking. Ready to drink but will enjoy 10-15 more years in bottle.
