Schloss Fürstenberg Riesling Spätlese 2005

Grapefruit and grass aromas. Sweet on the palate with a creamy mouthfeel of jammy apricot. Medium to long length.

Not the most complex of Rieslings but the stone fruit character of this wine is quite impressive.

Good - very good.

Bopparder Hamm Feuerlay Spätlese 2002

Medium straw color. Developing nose with a medium intensity of flint stone, chalk and jammy peach aromas. Off-dry, high acidity, med body and low alcohol. Pronounced intensity of mineral flavors, with peach, dried apricot and tarragon. Med(+) length with a creamy finish.

A light, elegant Spaetlese. At only 9% alcohol the residual sugar is nicely balanced by the high acidity, which gives the pronounced mineral character a further buzz. Even on the second day the wine still tasted like apricot jam spread on a piece of stone, with hints of petroleum. There is a great vibrancy which should give this wine quite some time to live in the bottle. Drink through 2018.

Very good.
Alc.: 9%
