Tasting Notes

Riesling Kabinett 2007

Pale lemon colour with a greenish tint. Youthful nose with medium intensity of citrus, pickled cabbage, minerality and perfume aromas. Medium sweet, medium(+) acidity. Low alcohol and light body. Medium intensity of blossoms, white peach and minerals. Medium(+) length. Drink now through 2018.

Although perfectly drinkable now, this Kabinett begs to be cellared for at least 2-3 years. Fruit and acidity are perfectly balanced, the minerality adds both depth and a stoney freshness.

Very good
Alcohol: 8%. Price: $21. Tasted: July and October 2008.

Dhronhofberger Riesling Tholey 2002

Pale lemon colour. Clean, developed nose with medium intensity of apricot, pear, melon, minerality, flint and hints of petrol. Dry (but with hints of residual sugar), medium(+) acidity, medium(+) alcohol and medium(+) body with a creamy mouthfeel. Medium intensity of red currants, pear, strawberries, minerals and petrol. Fairly long length.

Interesting flavour combinations. Fairly big style without losing Riesling's fine characteristics. Very good balance of acidity and fruit and a very soft finish. Drink now or keep for 5-10 years.

Very good
Alcohol: 12%. Price: $23. Tasted: 02/2007.
